How to Make Wood Carving On SketchUp

In this tutorial I will explain how to make a wood carving on google sktechup as shown in the picture below.
This tutorial is intermediate level and you can do it easily. i will show you step by step how to make wood carving manually. By following this tutorial, it will upgrade your skill and knowledge in 3D modeling using SketchUp.

Before we start this tutorial, you must install this plugin tool bellow on your SketchUp.
1. Soap and Skin Bubble Tool
2. Curviloft tol
3. fredo Scale
4. Bezier Spline

Step 1
Import the carved art images on sketchup

Langkah 2
make a square and give a transparent color to draw sketch of wood carving

Step 3

Make a sketch of wood carving in the projection box using bazier  spline

Step 4
Presspull the sketch image and make a group for each sketch drawing

Step 5
Make editing on each segment. Make a line in the sketch image as shown below

Step 6
Do scaling in the side of the segment like picture bellow

Step 7
select the line as shown below then scale using fredo scale tool so that it forms an image as below

Step 8
Remove the face and leave the segment side, then make a face on the surface of the sketch using  bubble & Soap skin tool as shown in the picture below then edit the surface that is formed manually to make it look smooth

Langkah 9
Create a second projection box in front of the initial model then draw details of the wood carving like picture bellow

Step 10
Use smooth / soften edge (right click > smooth / soften edge) command on the segment to make the face look smoother

Step 11
Extrude the detail sketch so that it intersects with the initial segment image. if it has intersected then do the intersect face command

Step 12
Make editing on details using curviloft tool  so it look concave.

Step 13
Do it to all details that you created.

and here the result with all segment.

Step 14
Use the bazier spline tool to create the outer side of the wood carving as shown in the image below

Step 15
Use  curviloft tool  to unite and make face between segment and outer side of wood carving.
