To shorten time, Lets start this tutorial

Step 1
Make a sphere shape on your SketchUp . If you do not know how to make a sphere shape you can follow the tutorial here.

Step 2
Enable hidden geometry in View> Hidden geometry then change the camera view to Pararrel projection and change the view on the left / right side so that the line appears on the ball towards the vertical. If the line flows towards the horizontal then rotate first

Step 3
Select all sides of the balls then right click> reverse face (to show white side. if it is white ,it is not necessary) then select SketchUv tool then right click on model and choose Sphere map (view). Then the ball will be maped as shown below.

Step 4
Open the material tab then click sample paint and select the texture image on the ball then change the name as you wish.

Step 5
After that change the texture of the initial image on the ball with the texture of the ball image by clicking the edit tab and select the texture image on the browse icon for material image file. Then the ball image will be embedded to the surface of the ball

Step 6
To tidy up the texture, resize the texture image by clicking on the chain icon so that length and height can be changed independently. Then change the texture height to the length of the terxture. Here I change to 0.25.

Step 7
If there is still maping the image that does not fit, then change one of the length or height of the texture image bit by bit. Here I change the length to 0255. then take a look at the result.
