How to Give Material Texture in Wavy Surface on SketchUp

To give material texture on a flat surface , SketchUp can do it quite simply and easily  but if  you try to give material texture in wavy surface and bumpy,  the results of the given texture will be a mess as in the picture below

To give material texture in wavy surface is required additional plugin tool called SketchUV that you can download for free. Here is a tutorial on how to use SketchUV for maping in SketchUp

  • After you download and you install SketchUV plugin tool open the SketchUp file that you will maping. Here I will use a pillow shape with separate top and bottom sides

  • Select the surface to be textured and set the view position as you wish. Because the position of the view will affect the position of the given maping. I suggest to use parallel projection with position above

  • Then click SketchUV tool  and right click on the already selected surface, then select planar map (view). There are several options for maping for the specified form. You can try it yourself but in this case the use of planar map (view) in specialize on the flat shape of bumpy or uneven

  • Next use the palette tool to read the texture in the material t

  • Then rename the material name in dialog box and open the edit tab and replace the material with the image you want

  • Do something similar on the surface of the other pillow and here's the result
