To activate this shadowing facility you can do this by selecting the window tab> default extension and selecting shadow, the shadow settings tab will appear and the shadow will appear on the model. Or for SketchUp 2015 and above, you can directly open the Shadow tab located on the right side of the screen
You can adjust the location of the sun according to your desire by sliding the setting slider in the Shadows Settings tab. Settings that you can do are the position of the time in hour, moon, the intensity of the light etc.
