How to Give Effect to Materials Using the Twilight Rendering Tool on SketchUp

Material is very important when you rendering on 3D models that have been made. By providing a good material composition will produce a rendering image that looks photorealistic.

In Twilight rendering tool, you can do it quite easily. You don't need t to provide advanced material settings to make a photorealistic material. you can do this by selecting an existing tamplate then the material will be formed.

Here the following steps how to give effect to the model material using Twilight rendering tool on SketchUp.

  • First, give a texture to the model using SketchUp material tab.
  • Then use  material tool  on the Twilight rendering tool to give a further effect on the material that you want to render.
  • On the Twilight material tab, define the material by selecting the available template.

  • If you have selected a template, then do the advanced settings if the material is less in accordance with what you want.

There are 3 settings you can change on each templete you use.

1. Bump

Bump: this setting allows you to give a bump effect on material texture so that it will look more realistic.

To give the bump effect, it requires a texture image of the material that has been edited using image editing software. you can search on google how to make bump map using photoshop or GImp.

2.IOR

IOR or Index Of Refraction is the index of how much light is reflected by a material. If you give the IOR the greater the reflection of light or shadow will be even greater

Less IOR

more IOR

3. Shinness

Shinness is the level of sharpness of light reflected by material. The greater the number of Shinness given then the level of brightness of light reflected by the material will be more sharp.

less Shinness

more Shinness

If it has been enough then the material you have edited is ready to be rendered.
